Dr. Max Willinger is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult hip and knee reconstruction. His clinical expertise includes total joint replacements, arthritis management of the hip and knee, and cutting-edge MAKO robotic-assisted surgery. With a passion for restoring mobility and enhancing quality of life, Dr. Willinger combines precision techniques with individualized patient care to deliver optimal surgical outcomes for those suffering from degenerative joint conditions.
Dr. Willinger’s medical journey began in Union College’s highly selective eight-year combined BS/MS/MD program. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Sociology, graduating summa cum laude, and a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from Union Graduate College. He went on to receive his medical degree from Albany Medical College, where his leadership and academic excellence stood out. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Northwell Health, where he served as Chief Resident, and then pursued advanced subspecialty training in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania.
Now practicing at Academy Orthopedics, Dr. Willinger brings a wealth of academic, clinical, and surgical experience to the team. Outside of medicine, he leads an active lifestyle playing basketball, volleyball, rugby, and skiing whenever possible. He also enjoys exploring National Parks, biking, and listening to the Beatles. Dr. Willinger is currently seeing patients in the Wayne and Morristown offices.
