Syndesmotic Repair

Syndesmotic repair involves the reconstruction of the syndesmosis, the high ankle ligament. Syndesmotic tears usually occur after an injury, fall or fracture. The repair can be performed either via screw fixation into the syndesmosis (conventional approach) or by tightrope approach wherein a tightrope insert along with a non-absorbable cord is placed inside the ankle to support the tibia and fibula to facilitate healing and restore bones to their original position.
