Deep Gluteus Space Syndrome

Deep gluteus space syndrome is characterized by pain or an abnormal sensation in the hip, buttocks, and thigh region. It is caused by entrapment of the sciatic nerve in the sub-gluteal space. The condition may be caused by fibrous bands, hamstring abnormalities, gluteus disorders or other pathology in this region. Treatment involves surgical decompression of the sciatic nerve which can be done by hip arthroscopy, relieving hip pain and improving function.
