Arthroscopic capsular release and manipulation under anesthesia is performed in patients that have a constricted shoulder capsule and suffer from a frozen shoulder. Using the arthroscope any tissue that is constricting the capsule is cut and the shoulder is mobilized under anesthesia, which improves range of motion of the shoulder joint.
