Dr. Jonathan R. Vamadeva is a Sports Medicine physician based in Northern New Jersey who is dedicated to helping athletes and active individuals recover from injury, optimize performance, and return to the activities they love. He specializes in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries through non-operative sports medicine, including diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound with ultrasound-guided procedures. With a background in Internal Medicine, Dr. Vamadeva also provides a well-rounded approach to patient care, managing medical conditions that impact overall health, exercise, and athletic performance.

Dr. Vamadeva completed his Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Atlantic Sports Health at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey, where he received advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries, and gained extensive experience performing ultrasound-guided procedures. Prior to fellowship, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where his musculoskeletal interests were strengthened as part of the Osteopathic Recognition track.

During his fellowship, Dr. Vamadeva cared for athletes at every level of competition, from youth and high school sports to collegiate and professional organizations. His collegiate experience ranged across multiple divisions, from various sports at St. Elizabeth’s University and Caldwell University to covering Seton Hall University men’s basketball. Furthermore, he provided coverage to the Somerset Patriots (Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees). With an interest in fight medicine, Dr. Vamadeva also covered mixed martial arts events with Cage Fury Fighting Championships. Finally, he provided regular coverage to the New Yorks Jets at the NFL level, while also participating in the medical evaluation process at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Vamadeva is Board-Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Vamadeva has presented nationally and regionally on topics including sports medicine, adaptive athletes, sideline medicine, and sports nutrition. He has been both a presenter and a moderator at the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Annual Meeting, and he remains actively involved in advancing evidence-based sports medicine through research and continuing education. He is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. He also holds certifications in American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS), which allow him to tackle the most emergent medical situations and deliver life-saving interventions both on and off the field.

Dr. Vamadeva believes every patient deserves an individualized treatment plan focused on restoring function, preventing future injury, and achieving long-term health. He emphasizes patient education, shared decision-making, and the latest evidence-based treatments to help each individual reach their goals.
