ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON

Craig Wright, MD is a founding member of Academy Orthopaedic Group Institute. He is a native of Totowa, NJ where he was born and raised, and attended Passaic Valley High School. He is honored to be able to work and take care of patients from his community.

Dr. Wright is a fellowship trained board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in orthopaedic traumatology and direct anterior hip replacement surgery. He completed his training at the Kuntscher Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at the University of Louisville, the nation’s first and one of its busiest Level 1 trauma centers. While in Louisville he obtained comprehensive exposure to the management of long bone and pelvic ring injuries. He has expertise in treating patients from the time of injury to the planning of fracture stabilization and post-operative care.

While in Louisville, Dr. Wright also honed his skills as a hip replacement surgeon under the tutelage of Dr. Jonathan Yerasimides, one of the nation’s busiest hip replacement surgeons and a foremost authority on the direct anterior approach total-hip replacement. Dr. Wright specializes in less-invasive direct anterior total hip replacement using the MAKO Robotic Navigation System. This technique allows for less trauma to the muscles surrounding the hip joint, a faster recovery and more precise implant positioning. Dr. Wright completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Seton Hall University where he served as Chief Resident. He attended medical school at Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School. Prior to medical school, Dr. Wright graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a 4-year varsity wrestler for one the country’s premier combination athletic & academic institutions.

Dr. Wright currently serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Seton Hall University, where he is active in resident education requiring him to stay up to date on orthopaedic research and technology. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Orthopaedic Trauma Association. He is active is resident education and research.

RESIDENCE

Dr. Wright currently resides in Bloomfield, NJ with his wife Kaci, son Shane and daughter Sloane.
