WAYNE, NJ (July 2025) – Academy Orthopedics is proud to welcome Dr. Max Willinger, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip & knee reconstruction, including robotic-assisted and total hip and knee replacements using minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Willinger will be seeing patients in the Wayne and West Orange offices, bringing advanced joint reconstruction options to Passaic and Essex County communities.
Dr. Willinger is one of only a select group of orthopedic surgeons in Passaic and Essex Counties offering robotic-assisted hip and knee replacements with minimally invasive techniques, a highly advanced approach performed by fewer than 15 specialists in the region. He is also the eighth physician to join Academy Orthopedics, further expanding the practice’s commitment to cutting-edge care with a personalized touch.

A graduate of Albany Medical College, Dr. Willinger completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Northwell Health and pursued advanced fellowship training in hip and knee reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts, contributing to the evolving science of joint preservation and replacement.
Dr. Willinger is known for his thoughtful, approachable style, prioritizing clear communication and shared decision making.
